Face & Neck Lift
A Face Lift improves the appearance of an aging face. It may include a neck lift as well as a forehead lift and a brow lift. Eyelid surgery can be done at the same time.
A proper face lift should include repositioning of deep sagging structures in the face i.e. SMAS (deep fascia in the face) + fat + platysma muscle to restore these structures to their original position. The extra sagging skin is removed without putting any tension on the skin. This procedure will give a long lasting effect.
This procedure takes nearly 4 hours.
In some patients with less sagging facial structures a short scar or mini facelift is adequate, this procedure will take 2 - 2.5 hours.
Some patients will show signs of aging in their mid-forties and they need a facelift. Other patients in their mid-fifties might still look good and they don’t need a face lift.
Post Operatively: There will be bruising and swelling which will last 2-3 weeks.
A face lift if done properly will last for many years, a secondary face lift can be done 10-15 years after the first operation. This is not because the original procedure had failed but is due to the ongoing aging process.
