Fillers
Fillers are usually made of Hyaluronic Acid.
This is a natural material present in our skin.
Its function is to keep humidity in the skin and give the skin its shining fresh look.
As we grow older we lose the hyaluronic acid from our skin and by the age of 35 we lose about 30% - 40% of the Hyaluronic Acid and by the age of 50, we lose more than 50%. This will result in dry, thinner skin and wrinkles start to appear.
Other factors which lead to the look of an aging face is downward pull of facial tissues by gravity.
Atrophy of the bony structures and soft tissues plays an important role in facial aging.
Benefits of Using Fillers:
1. Fillers will rejuvenate the skin by treating the static wrinkles and increasing the humidity in the skin and giving more thickness to the atrophic thin skin.
2. Fillers can replace the lost volume in the cheeks, chin and jawlines, giving a lifting effect to the face and neck.
3. As we grow older the lips lose volume, become thinner and the contour becomes less obvious. Fine vertical lines will also appear on the lips. All this can be treated with Hyaluronic Acid Fillers.
4. Fillers can be given to deep glabellar lines (deep lines at the root of the nose) and under the eyes to fill the tear trough which softens the appearance of lower lids bags.
5. Fillers can also be used to fill forehead lines, nasolabial folds and fill temporal depressions.
6. In certain cases it can be used on the nose to hide a hump or lift the tip or correct a deviated nose (Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty).
Hyaluronic Acid Fillers lasts in the face for 6 months (as in the lips) and 18-24 months (as in the cheeks). This depends on the type of the filler and the site injected.
This filler can be dissolved by using Hyaluronidase Enzyme Injections.
Permanent fillers should not be used, as they will lead to permanent problems which are very difficult to treat.
